...A MAJOR WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT WESTERN WYOMING TODAY
SPREADING ACROSS THE REST OF THE AREA ON FRIDAY...

.A WARM FRONT WILL BRING AMPLE AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE ACROSS WESTERN
WYOMING THIS AFTERNOON. THIS WILL RESULT IN STEADY SNOWFALL
THROUGH FRIDAY...BEFORE AN ARCTIC FRONT MOVES OVER NORTHERN AND
CENTRAL PORTIONS ON FRIDAY. PERIODS OF HEAVY WET SNOW WILL FALL
IN THE MOUNTAINS...ESPECIALLY THE TETONS. STRONG WINDS WILL ALSO
LEAD TO SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS
WITH SEVERELY REDUCED VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. SIGNIFICANT SNOW
WILL ALSO OCCUR OVER THE BIGHORN MOUNTAINS TONIGHT AND FRIDAY.
SNOW WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD EAST OF THE DIVIDE FRIDAY...AS THE
ARCTIC FRONT SURGES SOUTHWARD.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST FRIDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR SNOW AND WIND WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST
FRIDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING...PERIODS OF SNOW WILL OCCUR THROUGH FRIDAY. A BURST OF
  MODERATE SNOW IS EXPECTED LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS
  EVENING. A LULL OR LIGHTER SNOW IS THEN EXPECTED THE REMAINDER
  OF THE NIGHT. SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL FALL THURSDAY THROUGH
  FRIDAY AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES COULD RISE ENOUGH THAT THE LOWEST
  PARTS OF THE STAR VALLEY MIX WITH RAIN AT TIMES ON THURSDAY WHILE
  THE HIGHER LOCATIONS AND FOOTHILLS STAY SNOW. SIGNIFICANT
  PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED DURING THIS PERIOD SO SOME VERY HEAVY
  SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE WHERE IT STAYS SNOW FOR THE ENTIRE
  EVENT. SNOWFALL WILL QUICKLY END FRIDAY EVENING BEHIND AN ARCTIC
  FRONT.

* TOTAL SNOWFALL...6 TO 12 INCHES WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS UP TO 18
  INCHES IN THE HIGHER SPOTS AND NEAR THE FOOTHILLS. THE HIGHER
  AMOUNTS WILL GENERALLY BE ON THE NORTH END OF THE VALLEY.

* WIND AND VISIBILITY...THE WIND WILL BE INCREASING OVERNIGHT
  TONIGHT. EXPECT A SOUTH WIND OF 15 TO 25 MPH AND GUSTY AT TIMES THROUGH
  EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. THIS WILL RESULT IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING
  SNOW... ALONG WITH LOWERED VISIBILITY DOWN TO ONE QUARTER OF A
  MILE AT TIMES.

* IMPACTS...ROADS MAY BECOME SLICK AND SNOW PACKED WITH LIMITED
  VISIBILITY AT TIMES. PEOPLE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SHOULD
  BE PREPARED FOR ADVERSE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TAKE THE
  PROPER PRECAUTIONS.
