How Cold Was It?

The first very cold morning of the winter was experienced by Star Valley and surroundings.

Here is a map of the minimums that were observed and reported this morning.

Minimum temperatures Dec 6 2016

There were even colder spots where official gauges are available.  One known cold spot is just north of Auburn west of the Auburn bridge over the Salt River.  Following is the reading on my vehicle and a couple views  from the same location.

-30F

However it was even colder in other nearby locations. The map below highlights two of them.  Bondurant WY where it dropped to -37F and -46F at the frigid location of Peters Sink near the top of Logan Pass west of Bear Lake Utah.
