Bitter Cold Morning Again in Western Wyoming, Winter Storm Warning in Effect

As on Tuesday morning temperatures dropped to well below zero across all of western Wyoming and surrounding areas.  Here in Star Valley the lowest observed has been -28F at the Double L Ranch northwest of Etna.  .

Following is the map of reported minimums around the region this morning  Note that Bondurant again takes honors with a low of -36F.

.A STRONG WEST FLOW OFF OF THE PACIFIC WILL DRAW ABUNDANT PACIFIC
MOISTURE INTO WESTERN WYOMING THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY
MORNING WHICH IS EXPECTED TO RESULT IN ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT
SNOWFALL FOR WESTERN WYOMING ALONG WITH STRONG WINDS PRODUCING
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY ON THE MOUNTAIN PASSES.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
NOON MST SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR THE STAR VALLEY AND THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS
WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO NOON MST SATURDAY.
THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL LIKELY BEGIN BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON. SNOWFALL
  WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES TONIGHT AND WILL LIKELY CONTINUE
  THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. THERE WILL LIKELY BE ONE FINAL BURST
  OF SNOWFALL AROUND MID DAY SATURDAY. SNOWFALL WILL DECREASE TO
  SNOW SHOWERS SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

* TOTAL SNOWFALL...8 TO 15 INCHES IN THE STAR VALLEY EXPECTED ALONG
  WITH 15 TO 25 INCHES POSSIBLE IN THE SALT AND WYOMING RANGES.

* WIND AND VISIBILITY...WEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO
  45 MPH WILL RESULT IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ALONG WITH
  LOWERED VISIBILITY DOWN TO ONE QUARTER OF A MILE AT TIMES ON
  SALT RIVER PASS.

* IMPACTS...ROADS MAY BECOME SLICK AND SNOW PACKED WITH LIMITED
  VISIBILITY AT TIMES... ESPECIALLY OVER THE SALT RIVER PASS.
  PEOPLE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR
  ADVERSE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TAKE THE PROPER
  PRECAUTIONS.
