Flood Statement National Weather Service Riverton WY 256 PM MDT THU MAR 23 2017 256 PM MDT THU MAR 23 2017 ...A FLOOD WARNING FOR URBAN AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS FOR RAIN AND SNOWMELT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM MDT FRIDAY FOR LINCOLN COUNTY... At 228 PM MDT, emergency management reported that the Bear River is flooding agricultural land in many locations near Cokeville. Unanticipated upstream reservoir releases from Woodruff Narrows Reservoir may cause the Bear River to continue to rise through Friday. Crow Creek near Fairview is cresting at this time. The creek was reported by spotters as encroaching several secondary roads. Homes are still not being affected near Fairview due to continued sandbagging. Emergency management reported that the Salt River is flowing out of its banks around Auborn and Thayne. The Salt River near Etna is forecasted to crest near bankfull stage of 5.0 feet by early Friday morning. Colder and drier weather tonight through Friday will slow down the amount of snowmelt runoff across the Bear and Salt River valleys. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.
