August 2014 was the wettest August on the record books for parts of Star Valley. The following charts illustrate how wet a month it was over much of Wyoming.

Much of Western Wyoming experienced 200-300% of normal for the month.
Across Star Valley generally 3.5 to 5 inches was measured in August 2014.
Following are specific totals for the month:

Bedford 3SE 4.91
Star Valley Ranch 4.91
Smoot 5SSE 4.84
Afton 3.66
Alpine 3.44
In the nearby mountains the Willow Creek SNOTEL measured 6.10 inches and Cottonwood SNOTEL 5.0 inches.
Of particular interest is at the Bedford station which goes back to 1975, the previous high August
rainfall was 3.47 in 1983. The old record was exceed this August by almost 1.5 inches.
Afton observations go back to 1955. The record Afton August rainfall was 4.58 in 2008 thus this August was about an inch shy of that amount..
