The Riverton Forecast Office will be doing their annual Spotter Training Program this Wednesday evening at the Afton Civic Center at 6 pm. It is an excellent presentation on how to identify and report severe storms that will affect Star Valley and surrounding areas.
The primary severe thunderstorm threat to Star Valley during the Spring and Summer are damaging downburst winds. However large hail and even tornadoes are also a threat to the area under favorable meteorological conditions.
Here are links to a couple blogs on severe storms that have affected western Wyoming in the past.
