Wednesday night and Thursday Morning a display of the Northern Lights(Aurora Borealis) was captured on the web cam located near Star Valley Ranch. The previous display occurred last May 27th.

Public Information Statement National Weather Service Riverton WY 215 PM MST Tue Sep 26 2017 Final snowfall and rainfall totals are in! All reports should have been received and the totals are shown below. This was quite a system lasting from last Wednesday night, the 20th, through this Monday night the 25th. Temperatures dropped well below normal for this time of year allowing the mountains to pick up a few inches of snow with a few locations even getting near two feet. It was also quite wet in western and central basins and valleys with widespread amounts around an inch up to two inches! Location Snowfall

Early Fall Snow visits Star Valley
Snow paid an early season visit to Star Valley Sunday night. This morning amounts ranged from around an inch in the Lower Valley floor to 4 inches at Star Valley Ranch and 5 inches in Smoot. It was a very wet snow bringing down some branches on still fully leaved Aspens.
Clearing will lead to a much different week ahead as temperatures climb back to near normal levels for the last week in September in the 60's.

National Weather Service Riverton WY 222 PM MDT Wed Sep 20 2017 ...A New Storm System Will Take Aim On Western Wyoming Tonight Into At Least Friday... .The large, cold, and wet pacific Pacific storm will move quickly into much of Western Wyoming this evening and continue to affect western and northwestern Wyoming through Friday. Isolated snow showers this afternoon will increase to to numerous across the western and northwestern mountains this evening. Heavier snowfall is across the Teton, Gros Ventre, and Wind River Mountains above 8500 feet where from 8 to 20 inches of snow can be expected through noon Friday. Salt River and Wyoming Ranges- 222 PM MDT Wed Sep 20 2017 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON MDT FRIDAY... * TIMING...A few isolated snow showers this afternoon will give way to moderate to occasionally heavy snow tonight over the Salt and Wyoming Mountains...continuing through Friday morning. Total snowfall will range from 4 to 12 inches above 8500 feet with snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches from 7500 to 8500 feet. * SNOWFALL...4 to 12 inches above 8500 feet with 2 to 4 inches down to 7500 feet. * MAIN IMPACT...Heavy snow will make travel difficult at times. * OTHER IMPACTS...Campers and hunters should be prepared for cold snowy and windy conditions.
