When are the Snows Coming?

Now that it is November, the question of when will the snows come, is a topic of many conversations in Star Valley.  While there was a dusting over much of the valley Sunday night, no significant accumulations occurred other than in the higher mountains. Travelers of I-80 in southeast Wyoming experienced a more winter like morning as can be seen from this cam photo near Arlington early Monday.

It now appears that the colder and more active weather will remain to the north and east of Star Valley for an extended period of time.  The most recent extended forecast out until the middle of November continues the trend of October with above normal temperatures

and very little in the way of precipitation across the Cowboy state

Precipitation forecast November 10-16 2014
While this is a forecast prepared by meteorologist  at the Climate Prediction Center,  the following is the most recent model forecast of total precipitation for the period from Monday morning November 3 2014 to November 19 2014 only generates less than a half inch over all of Wyoming.

Total Precipitation forecast from Monday November 3 to November 19 2014

So while ski season may get a late start, there should be several good fishing days left in the 2014 season!
